Action group too little, too late
Tue 15 Jun 2010
To the editor:
The formation of a new action group to advocate for the electrification of the upcoming rail line by Liberal MP Gerard Kennedy is about two years or more too late and is simply a re-election ploy.
With Mr. Kennedy's connections to the present Liberal Government in Ontario why has he not done something long ago? Where was he when the pile drivers were destroying people's homes and minds?
Instead MPP Cheri DiNovo, Peggy Nash and local activists had to step in and have been working since the beginning to stop the pile driving and this environmental and health disaster of using diesel engines. Now with an election looming Mr. Kennedy has realised that he must catch up and so he has formed an action group after all the decisions have likely been made.
Everyone should see this action group for what it is and say do during the next election. We need an MP that truly represents the interests of Parkdale-High Park.
