Quebec NDP MP Dany Morin endorses Nash for party leadership

Chicoutimi / Jan 5, 2012 – Dany Morin, NDP Member of Parliament for Chicoutimi—Le Fjord, announced his endorsement today of Peggy Nash in the race to lead Canada’s New Democrats.

“Peggy is a uniter and a leader within our Caucus,” said Morin. “Her expertise on the economy will be an essential element to the NDP defeating the Conservatives and forming government in 2015.”

“What’s more, Peggy understands and respects the concerns of Quebeckers. She has what it takes to build our Party in Quebec and garner new support from all parts of Canada.”

Elected to the House of Commons as part of the NDP’s historic 2011 breakthrough in Quebec, Morin joins fellow Quebec MPs Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet (Hochelaga) and Anne Minh-Thu Quach (Beauharnois—Salaberry) in publicly endorsing Nash.

Thanking Morin for his endorsement, Nash said: “Dany has quickly shown himself to be a valuable member of our caucus, as well as a reliable voice for Quebec within the NDP Official Opposition.”

“I am delighted to have Dany’s confidence in my ability to lead our Party to new heights, and to have the growing support of NDP members in Quebec and across Canada.”

“I can think of no one better able to take on Stephen Harper than Peggy Nash. She has the vision for how to move the country forward, on the economy, on the environment, on job creation, and she has the experience to make it happen.”
